A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF INFRASTRUCTURE

Dedicated teaching and Non-teaching staff are boon to this vidyalaya in bringing laurels to KV.Mandapam in spite of the fact that Mandapam has many problems and life is not as comfortable as in other stations in South India.In fact,Coast Guard and Naval Air Stations situated here have declared this station as semi-hard station.

Assembly
School
is a second home for the children . It is very important that maximum number of
students should be given opportunity to come on stage, to shed their inherent
fears and inhibitions. Our school assembly paves the way for all-round
development of the students. It also provides the
common ground for students to learn about unity in diversity through the various
religious and cultural events focussed upon during different days of the year.
Computer Education

Ø Well equipped air conditioned computer lab with 27 computers with LAN, multimedia facilities and uninterrupted internet facilities
Ø Imparts training to all students from Std I to XII and gives all its students ample opportunity in the use of computers.

PROJECT EDUCTECH
All the Scholastic and non
scholastic teachers of this Vidyalaya are trained in computers through project Edutech
computer training programme launched in the month of September 2005.Every year new training courses are conducted to update the computer knowledge of the teachers.Teachers in turn use their knowledge to prepare computer programmes and organise CAL/TAL classes.

v Preparation of many useful items are taught - Palm leaf craft, decorative items with sea - shells,sand sculpture,rangoli, etc.
v Special training is given in making useful items from waste.
Knowledge without a sound physique will render the children unfit for an active life. Hence physical and health education plays a vital role in the K.V. curriculum. The indoor games room with table Tennis & Carom boards , Chessboards make the school life a real fun for the children.
Mere acquisition of knowledge is not sufficient to face the competitive world. The CCA caters to the all round development of the children. Students are given ample opportunities to bring out their innate talents through a variety of competitions held every Friday and Saturday (except holiday).

“All
work and no play makes Jack a dull
boy”. So Kendriya Vidyalayas all over India has once again re instated
Co-Curricular activities as an integral part of the Curriculum in both the
primary and secondary sections. These activities aim at developing the finer
tastes and artistic inclinations of the student. It helps them to emerge from
their cocoons as colourful and confident citizens of future India. Elocution
competitions in both Hindi and English, Essay writing competition, painting
and drawing competition, patriotic group song competition, sand
sculpture, Rangoli are just to name a few.
Nature
club
The
students of class VI have formed a nature club under the guidance of Mrs.Biju
Mole, PGT (Bio). By planting medicinal trees and plants they intend to spread the
message of protecting and saving the flora and fauna from total
extinction.On special occsions like Teachers Day and Children's Day children of this Vidyalaya are incited into some of the dangers with which this Globe is threatened, like air pollution and global warming ,etc.Children are made aware of these problems through various progrmmes ane exhorted to take action agaist them.
Scout
and guide Movements
Character building is an important aspect of education. Scout & Guide movement in the school takes care of character building in the children. The movement inculcates moral, social and democratic values beside the spirit of cooperation and leadership qualities.
Yoga and Karate -Synchronising the Three H - Head Heart and Hands
Yoga
and Karate classes a routine in the curriculum gives the children mental peace
along with physical power.
Twice every
week the students of Class IV to X get basic training mastering tensions
of the mind through the Yogic exercises.
